As its compelling lead character cuts through his personal strife whilst helping another family find the sense of freedom he too seeks, a new trail is blazed that recenters the series on bone-crunching brutality and bravado. (The graphic novel “Ciudad,” upon which the first film was based, was written by Ande Parks from a story by Parks and the Russo brothers.) The filmmakers’ renewed vigor is our reward as, similar to its unfussy title, this sequel deals in clean-lined action and suspense, removing much of the excessive weight that bogged down the original. Three years later and armed with a far better, bloody and bruising quest for the laconic hero, Hargrave, star Chris Hemsworth and screenwriter Joe Russo return to the burgeoning franchise with “ Extraction 2”. All the folks at home made it a worldwide sensation for Netflix, and it continues to tear up the charts as their seventh most popular film ever (according to their internal, recently-released metrics). With theaters shuttered, our immediate movie-going futures looking bleak and escapist entertainment becoming a therapeutic necessity, along came the rise of The Streaming Service Blockbuster - most notably “Extraction.” Stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave’s muscular albeit convoluted actioner, centered on a mercenary sent to rescue the kidnapped son of a crime lord, was handed a captive audience. If I were a referee or even a copyeditor, I would almost certainly let the author use "in the sequel" if she wants.A funny thing happened during our worldwide lockdown in 2020. Most people agree that good mathematical writing is as stylistically unobstrusive as possible, so using phrases that make people ponder and ask questions about them on websites is, arguably, slightly too distracting.Īnyway, it's no big deal. beginning a sentence with "Remark that." sounds a little stilted and is probably a semiconscious translation of the french phrase "Remarquer que" (which I would translate as "Notice that"). If you read enough math papers you'll find that there are certain linguistic ticks that people pick up from each other (and also sometimes, from writing in other languages), e.g. Second, in my opinion it is somewhat hackneyed language and an idiomatic usage that doesn't add any meaning. First, as Mariano says, nowadays we hear "sequel" used most commonly for the next movie in a franchise, so its use in a math paper will inevitably make some readers think that you are referring to Part II: This Time, It's Personal, or whatever. Also its meaning should be relatively transparent to a literate native speaker of English: this is after all what the dictionary says that "sequel" means. Ths phrase is, as you point out, rather common, so any experienced reader of math will have seen it before. On to your question of whether this is acceptable usage in a math paper: acceptable, yes, but not completely recommended. Your interpretation of how "in the sequel" is used in mathematical literature is correct: it means "in what follows", "in the remainder of the present text", "from now on".As you can see, there are many other such expressions, and I don't think that "in the sequel" has any particular nuance of meaning that these other phrasings lack. In the main text of the paper or book? Finally, out of curiosity, I'm wondering how long this phrase has been around, if it's considered out of date or if it's still a popular phrase, and what some good alternatives are. "Īt the start of a paper or book without a formal "In the sequel, we introduce the concept of a "blah", which is a thing satisfying. )Īt what points in the text, and for what kinds of X, is it appropriate to use the phrase "In the sequel, X" in a paper? In a book? Is it ever acceptable to introduce definitions via (Someone recently argued to me that "sequel" was actually supposed to refer to a forthcoming second part of a paper, which I found highly unlikely, but I'd just like to make sure. While I feel quite confident that I've inferred the correct meaning of "In the sequel" from context, I've never heard anyone explicitly tell me, so first off, to remove my niggling doubts: What does this phrase mean?

Heat Gauge - Improves your maximum Heat Gauge.Health - Increases your maximum health. These are the different types of experiences : I found that you don’t need to grind to get everything. There is different types of exp for battle, heat action, and life skills. You still get exp from fights, minigames, eating and drinking, finishing substories, doing completion list gives you exp now instead of cp points. Same with Kiwami 1 but slightly different. (credit to both CyricZ and Lonelinessman22) I will also provide video about mahjong (learning by seeing someone else do it is way easier than learning from text) You'll have to fight him without items, weapons or heat actions. The last tile is given to you by Komaki after finishing Substory #31, which becomes available in chapter 5.Go up two floors in this building, you'll find the tile at the end of a hallway. In the Sotenbori gambling den at the south part of the map.One floor below Lullaby Mahjong, in an office in the corner behind a shelf full of cardboard boxes.save one for the mahjong substory and the rest can be used in the tournaments (don't make the mistake i did by using them in the easy tables, trust me it will save you the time). There is three peerless tiles (mahjong cheat item) in one playthrough. So if you're having trouble with mahjong and want more peerless tiles you can start NG+ (note : Doing this is only helpful for the tables and tournaments, so you still have to grind out tsumo and ron requirements regardless which it's not really worth it imo).Įxtra Note : i'm not a native English speaker, so if there is a mistake or mispronounciation I will apologize beforehand. Completion list progress carry over as you start NG+, with Clan Creator story progressĬabaret Club story progress, and Substories being the exception.I suggest doing a NG+ for legend and not a regular new game so that your weapons, stats, gear, money and inventory carry over and make it a cakewalk. Once on any difficulty you like, and one more time on legend. You will need to finish the game twice to get all of the achievements. The reason is I don’t want to spoil anything or dictate how you play the game that much. I will not be fully going in detail for the substories and completion list and will only be covering one's that I consider to be pretty tricky or hard. Some things to note before proceeding with the guide : Yakuza himself CyricZ from gamefaqs and Gamers Heroes for helping on a couple of things in this guide. This guide was made because I didn’t have one when attempting this and had to combine many different sites to help me along my way, so I hope this guide will be of use to people that wants to perfect this or if you just want to have a high achievement rate in your profile showcase. I never perfected the previous games before this, only getting close with 50 achievement each but I loved this one too much to passed it up and luckily this one had the easiest achievement to get through. I hope to continue it with the release of 3-6. I started getting into the Yakuza franchise with 0 back when it was discounted at steam’s golden week sale and got hooked into it really bad, so it was inevitable to continue my journey with Kiwami and Kiwami 2. Welcome to my Yakuza Kiwami 2 Completionist Guide The Fire HD 8 Plus also has a USB-C port, which is great to see, and includes a charging brick, something that is not so often included with devices these days. I very much appreciate the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a feature I’ve missed in high-end modern phones and tablets. Compared to glass or aluminum, it is easier to grip and won’t show wear and tear as easily. It’s not fancy or premium, but the textured plastic back is actually really nice. Surprisingly, the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus is very well made in a functional sort of way. Show 2 more items Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2022) design Andy Zahn / Digital Trends Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2022) price and availability.Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2022) battery and charging.Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2022) display and performance.Of course, packing-in relatively decent speakers is nothing new for the Amazon Fire range. It’s a speaker you can happily listen to without feeling like you’re slowly grating your eardrums. It sounds much fuller than we usually hear from a lower-end ultra-skinny tablet, with a bit more warmth and weight down there in the lower frequencies. You get a pair of speakers built into the bottom edge of the tablet, at either end. Even the iPad Air 2 battery life dips to around six hours when you challenge it, though. Revving the engine a bit more, it seems clear the CPU can turn itself down pretty effectively, as when 3D gaming you’ll only get about four hours off a charge. Amazon claims it’ll last for eight hours, but when playing a locally-stores MP4 movie at the sort of brightness you might use indoors, it lasts for 11.5 hours. I was pretty happy with how long the Amazon Fire HD 10 lasts, as it goes. Increasing the display size only puts more strain on the battery. It’s increasing resolution that drains more CPU power. After all, thanks to the 1,280 x 800 pixel screen the processor doesn’t actually have to work any harder than it does in the old Fire HD 6. There’s not much of a practical knock-on of having a lower-end CPU, though. In Geekbench 3 it scores 1440, which is pretty similar to the Snapdragon 410 CPU you’ll see in plenty of cheaper mobile devices these days. What you get is a quad-core MediaTek CPU with two power cores and two easy-going ones used when not all that much grunt is required. It’s actually less powerful than the CPU of the Nexus 7 from 2013. The actual power it has on tap is fine, but not close to what you get with the Nexus 9. Part of this likely comes from so much of the interface being made up of little bits of digital fluff that live in cache memory, to be written over and replaced regularly. Just getting from A to B takes longer, and there’s interface lagginess act times too. I also found it slower to operate than a ‘plain’ Android tablet. It’s app-discovery-tastic, but if you want a tablet that’ll just let you get on with the business of actually using it, the Amazon Fire HD 10 might get on your nerves. The rest is really about pointing you towards more stuff from these various places that you might like. However, now it sells pretty much everything digital, including music, audiobooks, ebooks, apps, video… and let’s not forget the Amazon Prime Instant Video Netflix-a-like service.įire OS is a set of horizontally-scrolling home-screens, but only one is dedicated to the stuff you own. It’s quite different to normal Android and iOS in that an awful lot of its interface space is taken up by content from the many Amazon silos rather than apps you’ve already downloaded.Īmazon was once a website where you’d buy stuff, and it’d get delivered. The Amazon Fire HD 10 runs Fire OS, the custom Amazon version of Android. It’s not dated in all areas, but that makes the ultra-low resolution even more head-scratching. It also uses an up-to-date screen lamination technique, meaning that the image looks like it’s right on the surface rather than recessed. It’s an IPS LCD screen like the iPad’s, and looks alright from any angle. The Amazon Fire HD 10 display isn’t terrible in all respects, though. To really bring it home, consider that the 5.5in Sony Xperia Z5 Premium screen has 8,294,400 pixels. And yes, that’s down to the tablet, not us. Remember how I was comparing the Amazon Fire HD 10 design to tablets of 2011? This is the resolution we got back then too.įeed the tablet a well-encoded 720p movie and it’ll still look sweet, but read articles on it and the text looks a bit crude. It’s dead blocky, to the extent that any other good elements of image quality are completely overshadowed by this naff pixel density. So stretched you can see between the pixels. Spreading 1280 x 800 pixels across 10.1 inches in 2015 is like stretching pizza dough so thin you can see through it. Many of the most common active ingredients in these patches do rev heart rate or speed up metabolism-however, these effects tend to be *very* minimal. Do the ingredients in these patches actually have any weight loss super powers? They also may include essential oils and other moisturizing ingredients for the skin. That's is the key difference between patches and oral supplements you’d ingest, such as in pill or powder form, says Charlie Seltzer, MD, a weight loss physician and exercise physiologist based in Philadelphia.Ĭommon ingredients found in these patches include Japanese mint, green tea extract, green coffee bean extract, and bitter orange (more on these ingredients in a minute). These patches are intended to work transdermally, which means the active ingredients go directly into the skin, bypassing your digestive system. Some frequently searched products include hukoto patches, hibana patches, and yasumint patches. They’re typically available through large online retailers like Amazon, as well as on brands’ individual websites and in brick-and-mortar nutrition stores. Well, they're pretty much exactly what they sound like: large adhesive patches that you apply to the part of your body that you’re hoping to reduce (such as your belly, arms, or thighs). Charlie Seltzer is a weight loss physician and exercise physiologist based in Philadelphia. Meet the experts: Jorge Moreno is an internal medicine physician and obesity medicine specialist at Yale Medicine. Ahead, everything you need to know about these patches, according to doctors. And they're not regulated by the FDA, so there's no way of knowing exactly what is in these stickies.Ĭan’t blame ya if you’re still curious, thanks to influencers touting their superpowers. In fact, these patches can cause adverse side effects, says Jorge Moreno, MD, an internal medicine physician and obesity medicine specialist at Yale Medicine. Yes, an adhesive that delivers fat-burning or metabolism-boosting ingredients to your skin may sound like magic, but you should know they are not all they’re cracked up to be. (sorry!), but one continues to draw attention: weight loss patches. And most of these products are total B.S. If you’ve recently looked up ways to lose weight, you’ve likely come across tons of supplements and aids that promise quick results (remember waist trainers, anyone?).
In response to the developer's boilerplate answer to my review, CanaryMail has basically the same exact features as before with some minor vague "redesign", but basic features such as an instant undelete feature and the ability to see more than first names in the headers of email threads are still missing despite being requested repeatedly by users and being found on almost all other email apps. Looks like a ridiculous excuse to charge loyal users again. In fact, I can see nothing new in the design, settings, or appearance of CanaryMail. I’ve been requesting basic features from canary for months that are found in other email apps, and this “new” version includes none of them. There is plenty of room for improvement here. but there is a problem with that as well as leaving that on is an issue because Canary cannot seem to keep the local database free of errors and it mixes multiple unrelated threads. If you leave the threading of messages on then this is not an issue. This is not the case with Canary, you need to check your sent mail to confirm and that can be tedious to search through. A lot of clients will show a reply or forwarding arrow to indicate it has been acted on previously. Another major annoyance is that there is no visual indication that you have replied to a particular email. A mail client should be able to access all the mail associated to an account. Tech support cannot answer how I can force a download of my mail. But location and site security restrictions impede access at times. I have plenty of space available and bandwidth is not an issue when I am able to connect. This is also where Canary has a serious shortfall as it only “syncs a limited number of emails in order to conserve bandwidth and space”. Web based clients do not provide the functionality I require, namely that I need access to email when NOT ONLINE.
